Mutual Mobile takes over SXSW

Mutual Mobile takes over SXSW

What kind of mobile authorities or Austinites would we be if we didn’t lend our knowledge to “The World’s Largest Interactive Festival,” aka SXSWi? Over the course of five days (March 7-11), seven members of our esteemed leadership will be giving advice, insights and the occasional humorous anecdote about topics ranging from wearable devices to creating and maintaining a tech company in the “soulful” city of Austin. Eat, Drink and be Merry

There are many reason why so many people flock to Austin for SXSW, and it’s not just the amazing panels and events. There’s also the food, cocktails and culture. Here are some of our favorite spots to fill our gut or get a little loose:

Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille

If you’re here on Friday, DROP EVERYTHING and go to Perry’s for their Famous Pork Chop Friday Lunch. Sure, they have other things on the menu, but you don’t need to worry about that.

John Mueller Meat Co.

Want authentic Texas brisket without the zillion hour wait? Bypass Franklin Barbecue and see what John Mueller has cooking in his smoker.

1886 Cafe & Bakery

Visit 1886 Cafe & Bakery during happy hour and enjoy one of the best burgers in Austin for the bargain price of $8. Eight bucks may not sound like a bargain, but it is when you consider the same burger is $15 during normal hours.

Bouldin Creek

Not a carnivore? Head to South Austin and enjoy one of our city’s most popular vegetarian establishments. There’s not an ounce of meat behind these doors, but there are enough greens, legumes and gourmet coffee to keep any diner happy.

Halcyon

Need some hard liquor or a delicious dessert after a long day of rubbing elbows or sitting through panels? Head to Halcyon and get a Long Island Iced Coffee or two. If you ask for a third, and they’ll politely turn you down , because this drink contains just about every spirit behind the bar.

Rio Rita Lounge

This locally loved dive bar has the best Bloody Mary you’ll ever pour on your tongue. The vibrant blend of homemade mix, house-infused jalapeno vodka, a forest of vegetables and a cajun-seasoned rim is the perfect way to start your day or finish your night. Plus, they serve East Side Pies.

Intrigued? That was just a small sampling of the endless restaurants and bars Austin has to offer. If these suggestions aren’t enough to get you through your visit, look to Austin’s Yelp community for guidance. Austin Yelpers are some of the most active and honest reviewers in the country. If an establishment has anywhere from 3.5 to 5 stars, there’s a great chance you’re going to enjoy yourself — almost as much as you’ll enjoy Mutual Mobile’s SXSW panels.
